Abstract

During the 94 months Iran-Iraq imposed war, the urban and rural areas in the province of Kurdistan, especially n the cities of Marivan, Baneh, to an extent Saqez and 227 rural points at the region, because of their common border with Iraq, faced heavy human and financial damage. In addition, many other regions in the province were also experienced air strikes. Consequently 16784 residential and trade units in the war-stricken areas were destroyed or damaged. According to a report released by expert U.N. delegation 26361 billion rials direct damages were incurred.
In this paper, first the dimensions and quantities of the rate of destruction and geographical distribution of damage in the province will be investigated. Then regarding the formation of the reconstruction process in the province, the charactristics and completed operations of the process of reconstruction and the return of war refugees to the province will be examined. Finally the experiences and results of the reconstruction will be mentioned.
