The term "ascetism" has been through trials and
tribulations and it can be assetted that there had been a certain self - denial or "austere" among poets and orators before Islam emerged. The most important of whom are Ghos Ben Saeda - ye - Iyadi, Ahsum Ben Seifi, and Omiyat Ibbn Abisollat .
With the emergence of Islam, there came great changes in the notion of "ascetism". A great number of Quranic verses as well as many narrations from the holy prophet, imams and the deciples of the prophet brought up great motivations in the coming to existence of different idiologies in gnostism, ethics, and eloquence.
Each of these schools of thought has introduced its own account of ascetosm derived from their perceptions of the world, that was most effective in educating people subjects, different authors and poets in different periods to provide a survey of Iraqi poet and their notion of ascetism, to look at Spanish ascetism and the master pieces created.
There has been a mention of the distinguished figures in


gonstic ascetism, like Mansoor Hallaj, Rabea Addoyeh, Muhi-o-din Arabi, Baker Ben Davood, Almarvani and the difference between their notions of ascetism and that of non -gnostic ascetism, lije Abulahiyeh, Salih Ben Abdulghodoos, and others who, somehow, influenced Arabic literature. This
study also clarifies the definition and the difference between "negative" ascetism and the positive one, It brings to attention some of the topics pertaining to rememberance of death, worship, avoidance of inviolable things, and acquisition of nobel characteristics.
It then compares and contrasts these topics with those
related to gnostic notions like, consciousness, repentance, beseeching" mortification, grief, love, contraction and expansion, intoxication, absorption, annihillation, eternity"
and so forth. In the final part of the article. ascetic poems, together with thir composers, have been discussed in short. Finally, it has been concluded that ascetic literature has not been considered very important. However, with a little work of investigation, novel points that are useful in Islamic education can always be extracted and refined to be presented in the best manner to the mankind escaping from the materiallistic world.
