Abstract

Mir Fendereski is one of the linchpins of philosophy and of course the unknown one in Safavid era. Mir, as a philosopher, was never after wordly fame and reputation while Indian rulers and Safavid kings held him in high esteem.
Not many of his works are available and as if he was intent upon not being celebrated for science and wisdom. From his limited and self-described works remaining, Mir' s skill in pinpointing philosophical concepts can be deduced. Researches have got different opinions of his philosophical disposition.
some consider him as an illuminationist and some others views him as an aristotalian. What, however, is gathered out of his works is that he is a mere aristotalian. Those ones who are of the belief that he is a illuminationist, mostly turn to a few verses of his famous ade crossing one's mind the platonic idea of its composer. These verses are ambiguous compared with Mir' s other works.
Mir Fendereski spent many years learning Indian
philosophy and mystecism in India. Translation of Joug-e-Basecssht' into persian along with its explanation is a memento of that period. His opinion of the here after is nothing but that of aristotalian philosophers and no mystic views can be traced in his works.
