Ibn Majed, the most famous Islamic navigator, was born about 9th, sentury in Jolfar a city near the Persian Golf. He was so skillful in knowledge of navigation that was called as a teacher or professor or head of knowledge of navigation.
He has long elegies and facicles in knowledge of navigation and he has left about 46 works as memorial. He was skillful in making Arabic navigation terms and in this way he fortified Arabic language. This navigator often borrowed persian words in his works in order to arabicized form of a word such as Rahnamadg (map), zandg or zang (bell), port and harbor.
