Abstract

In this paper, Farsi allophone system is analyzed according to the theory of
articulatory phonology. To this end , articulatory gestures are defined as minimal units of analysis . Since articulatoiy gestures are intrinsically temporal constriction patterns of vocaltrat, their spatiotemporal combinations organize phonemes and allophones.
64 Farsi words were selected to study Consonants of CC context.
Author uttered the word while wearing artificial palate using electropalatograph . The acoustic signal and tongue dynamic frames were recorded. Finally, Farsi gesture overlap rules were determined.
