Qadhi Sayyid Noyr-ullah Marashi Shooshtari the most eminent scholar of tenth and eleventh century AH, was born in Shooshtar in 956 A.H. He received his earlier education in Shooshtar, pursued higher studies at Mashhad, and then migrated to India where he caught the attention of the great Moghal Emperor Muhammad Jalaluddin Akbar, who appointed him as the Chief Justice(Qadhi al-Qudhat), thus, became famous as Qadhi. Because of his extra ordinary eminence some jealous contemporaries henched a plot against him, which resulted in his martyrdom in 1019 AH. at the age of seventy. He was bur rid in the city of Agra in the state of Uttar Pardesh, India.
Qadhi Sayyid Nour-ullah Shooshtari was a successful leader, learned scholar, great literary man, and eminent jurisprudent, who was an authority and specialist in the fields of religious debate (Monazara), research, and theoretical and narrative sciences_ he has left more than 140 books and journals as his precious works. He has also compiled poetic verses in Arabic and Persian.
