In this article, I shall examine and criticize typology or the explanation of linguistic variation in the framework of the theory of Principles and Parameters. Taking into account certain parameters I shall emphasize that typology within this theory can be studied only in terms of Berwick‘s Subset theory (1982). Otherwise, the theory of Principles and Parameters will encounter epistemological problems.
